Weight Loss Short Term Goals

What do you think would be the best type of exercises for me to do, to get into shape?
I’m 23 yrs old. 5’5″, 225 lbs., and very over-weight. My body fat is evenly spread throughout my body, i don’t have one problem area that is worse than another. One day, i would like to be 150 lbs. But, my short-term goals are to loose my weight 10lbs at a time. Little Victories!
I would like to develop an exercise routine to help me loose the weight. I’m realistic in knowing my weight loss will be gradual, I’m not looking for a miracle diet, drink or cleanse, and/or pill. I’m hoping someone can share with me how to get started? What exercises should I start with in the beginning stages of my weight-loss? How long should the work outs be per day, and how many times each week? I’m just really looking for the basics to help me on my quest to being healthy again. Right now, i don’t have the money to join a gym or class. Also, if you know of any on-line weight-loss groups, that I can join for free…..I would appreciate you mentioning them to me.
