In a sense, this issue is only a matter of common sense. If someone is upset enough about your body shape and decides to lose weight, failure is going to darken the mood. But the mood of the low-carbohydrate group quickly returned to pre-diet levels, while the group remained high in carbohydrates happier. Ignoring scientific explanations why this might be – something reserved for future research – there is another factor. None of the participants used any drugs like phentermine support.
