Vegetarian Diet 2000 Calories

What can I do with my diet to help my flexibility?
I have been using Yoga to help my flexibility, but it does not seem to be helping much. I also use the pool for training, swimming down lap and walking hands splayed up laps. I am avoiding strength training for now while I shed a few more pounds.
Diet wise, I have cut 95% of the soda out of my diet (I still enjoy 1-2 root beers a week – natural sugar based). I have cut my beef intake by about 30%, replacing those meals half with fish and half vegetarian. I am portioning for a 2000 calorie diet, but often ending the day with an extra 200-300 calories available, so I drink a Naked Juice smoothie.
Are there any supplements/foods to help my muscles, tendons, and ligaments to regain (or truthfully, to just gain) flexibility?
PIneapple juice….brazil nuts….the darkest colored fruits and veggies you can find in a rainbow of shades (red, orange, etc)….”good fats” such as olive, and especially flax seed oil (never cook with it – it breaks down with heat)
As far as supplements….Glucosamine is worth a try, chondroitin is not (too pricey, scientific literature doesn’t give it much support) MSM is another worth trying, as well as vitamin C….
Keep up the yoga – when I started 7 years ago I couldnt lift my arms over my head….now I can touch my palms to the floor when standing upright….be patient with yourself….you didnt get this way overnight….you wont improve overnight either…..its a process.
Be well
