Diet soda bad for weight loss?

I have developed a horrible habit of drinking tons and tons of soda (regular kind), and so I decided to switch to diet soda, at least temporarily, to keep from gaining weight. Problem is, I’ve read some studies that seem to suggest that diet soda is actually MORE likely to cause weight gain! How? Why? It has no calories, and so it stands to reason that if you drank diet soda and ate reasonably, you wouldn’t gain any weight. I know water is better than any kind of soda, and that I probably shouldn’t drink it at all (so don’t bother telling me that, I know). I just want to know if it really does work against weight loss.

Thanks anyone who answers.

^ he’s right. It is good for nothing. Diet soda has so many chemicals! Ugh! I would never go near it. The reason you still gain weight is because it still has fat. Calories are for energy and if you don’t work them off, only then do they turn into fat. Calories are good and needed in moderation. Diet soda still has sugars and that is just really fat. Stay away from it if you wanna lose weight. Stick to water bc not only will it acutally help with weight loss, it makes your skin look great!
